Welcome to New Buffalo High School. New Buffalo High School is a Career Pathway High School with pathways in Arts and Communication, Business Management, Marketing & Technology, Health Science, Human Services and Natural Resources and Agriscience. More detailed information can be found on the Guidance Office link on this website. The school is home to 239 students in grades 9-12, 21 faculty and 13 support staff. New Buffalo High School has been continuously accredited by North Central Association since 1942. In 2005 the school received a “B” from the State of Michigan and achieved AYP status from the Federal Government. New Buffalo High School is on a four block schedule that is under review by a committee of parents and educators to determine if there is a more effective delivery system for 2006/07 school year. Presently students are required to complete 30 credits for graduation. Students are required on the Professional Track in the core areas to complete 5 English credits, 5 math credits, 9.5 social studies credits, and 4 science courses and must complete a senior project where they are required to demonstrate writing skills in a research paper, planning time management in developing and completing a project and presentation to a committee upon completion of the project and demonstration of technology skills in the presentation skills they will need in the world of work, college or military. All students are required to complete 20 hours of community service during high school. Students on the Technical Track are looking forward to an apprenticeship, community college, or technical schools. They must take 4 English, 4 math up through Algebra II, 4.5 social studies and 4 science credits. Students are offered two Foreign Languages (Spanish and French), Fine Arts, Band, Art, Drama, and Choir. Students at New Buffalo High School who have completed the core courses scored above the national and state average on the ACT while students who have not completed the core courses scored below the state and national averages. New Buffalo High School is a school that you can be involved in the other half of education, the extra curricular. The Drama Department is recognized as outstanding and performs two musicals a year with all students interested involved. Last year we produced Fiddler on the Roof and Wizard of Oz to sell out crowds over two weekends including a Dinner Theatre. Other extra curricular activities include Academic Challenge, Mock Trial, Science Olympiad, Project Close-up, Newspaper, and Yearbook. Athletically New Buffalo High School offers the following Varsity Sports: Fall: Football, Co Ed Soccer, Girls Basketball, Golf, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Cheerleading. Winter: Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Cheerleading Spring Baseball, Softball, Girls and Boys Track New Buffalo High School is the Right Choice for Today’s Education because we care.
