The HS quiz bowl team had a strong finish to our season this week. This past Saturday we were at Michigan State University for the State Finals. We finished 9th in class C/D. Last night we competed in the WSJM Academic Challenge Championship Playoffs. We finished 1st in the WSJM regular season and faced off against the 2nd place team, Berrien Springs. We played well but came up just short against a tough Berrien Springs squad. We have an amazing group of students and I couldn’t be prouder of what they accomplished this year!

New Buffalo Area Recreation Authority "Special Meeting" Notice
February 28, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at New Buffalo Township Hall,
17425 Red Arrow Highway, New Buffalo, Michigan.

This past fall the River Valley and New Buffalo School Boards voted unanimously to combine the High School sports programs phased in over the next few years. Recently, the two schools met with their respective student-leadership groups to solicit ideas for a new mascot and color palette for the program moving forward. Through numerous discussions, a joint student meeting and a comprehensive voting process available to all 6th-12th grade students at each school, the new mascot name and colors will be the Red Arrow Raiders with Carolina Blue and White as the primary colors with Graphite and Black serving as complementary colors.
Both administrations felt it was of greatest importance that the students lead the decision for the mascot and program colors. Through thoughtful dialogue from our respective student bodies and an open and transparent voting process, the River Valley and New Buffalo School Districts are excited and confident that this decision will help move this merger in a positive direction.
